Latorre at the Paris World Summit: "The energy transition is an issue that challenges and concerns us."

The Minister of Environment and Energy participated in a panel alongside representatives from Brazil, Chile, and Colombia at the leading global forum on sustainable energy policies.
Mendoza 's Minister of Energy and Environment, Jimena Latorre , was one of the speakers at the 46th International Conference of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), taking place in Paris from June 15 to 18. This is the most important global meeting on energy policies, where more than 600 delegates from 40 countries will discuss the challenges of the transition to sustainable sources .
During his participation in the panel "Government and Policies: Energy Transition in Latin America ," Latorre shared the stage with experts from Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. In his remarks, he highlighted Mendoza's approach to this matter: "How the province of Mendoza is currently addressing the energy transition, with a policy based on leveraging current resources, but with a vision and investment focused on replacing the energy matrix," he noted.
Latorre also mentioned some of the major projects being promoted by his administration: "To this end, we are strengthening the electrical infrastructure with public-private financing projects, aiming to provide a robust electrical system." He added: "This sustained growth is reflected in renewable energy , with nine solar farms , both operational and under construction, which will contribute more than 1,000 MW to the province's electrical system."
On the panel, the minister was joined by Sylvie D'Apote , a Brazilian economist specializing in energy markets; Ricardo Raineri , former Chilean Minister of Energy and academic expert in decarbonization; and Isaac Dyner , a Colombian researcher with extensive experience in energy planning and renewable energy .
The Mendoza official praised the exchange of experiences in the Latin American context: “These types of meetings allow us to establish ties, share the problems we share as Latin American countries, and draw on the solutions each country is providing in the face of the energy transition. This is not a problem of the future, but rather a reality that challenges us and should concern those of us who shape public policy, as well as private actors who want to invest and participate in the development of this transition,” she concluded.

The conference, organized by the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), is presented as the leading international platform for energy policy analysis and debate. Over four days, the program includes keynote addresses, applied research, panels, and workshops addressing topics such as sustainable energy generation, energy geopolitics, access to critical resources, infrastructure, and climate justice.
Paris thus became, for a few days, the world capital of energy debate, in a context of structural changes in energy production and consumption worldwide.
A key moment for ArgentinaMendoza's participation in this international forum comes at a particular time for Argentina's external projection in the energy sector. The summit coincides with the recent bilateral meeting between President Javier Milei and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron , also held in Paris.
At that meeting, both leaders announced the signing of a Strategic Alliance on Critical Minerals , aimed at promoting investment and technical cooperation in key resources for the energy transition, such as lithium and copper. Possible agreements within the framework of the Argentine Nuclear Plan were also discussed, with France expressing interest in participating as a strategic partner in the development of civil nuclear energy.
Macron also expressed his intention to move forward with the Mercosur-European Union agreement before the end of the year, which could open up new opportunities for the Argentine energy sector, both in terms of exports and access to technologies and financing.
